Shanghai Second Polytechnic University is a Shanghai-affiliated general higher education institution that excels in engineering and has coordinated development of multiple disciplines including management, economics, liberal arts, science and art. Shanghai Second Polytechnic University is a new type of university that has been growing along with the socialist construction of New China. The school was formerly the Shanghai Amateur Industrial University established in 1960 and renamed Shanghai Second Polytechnic University in 1984. It is currently the only university in Shanghai named "Industrial University". In the course of more than 60 years of schooling, the school has gone through adult education, full-time undergraduate education and postgraduate education. It has always adhered to the orientation of cultivating applied technical talents, facing social needs and serving national strategies.
